Gratitude

Thank you for your service. Gratitude is something we have always promoted in our family. On Sundays, we sit around our dinner table and write in our family gratitude journal all the blessings God has given us the past week. Thank you notes are bought, or sometimes made, by the boxes for sending hand written notes. Our faith teaches us to be acknowledging of  others.

Simply saying 'Thank you.' Now with a smile:)

A journal keeps record of a journey. I have not been as diligent at keeping a personal journal as I would have liked. Maybe it's the iphone's fault, I see my life through daily photos. I love reading memoirs, they are my favorite genre of books. I especially love the Anne Morrow Lindbergh series. I feel a journal is to hold truth. I know they can also hold fantasy and dreams but at it's essence a journal to me will give a picture of one's veracity.

I  have kept a gratitude journal for a lot of my thirties after reading the book, One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. Eucharist, one with Christ, breathing in the presence of the Creator and giving thanks. Blessings, count them daily! A calendar of joy to remember the days an seasons and gifts.
Scripture is full of this reminder.
This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:
‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2.

Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25

Journal keeping, a way for this blog to help me through step 5~ Sentimental items.
